Definitions






Administrator

A person designated to be responsible for configuring TimeReporting.com for your organization.  For example, the Administrator sets up login accounts for employees and in the Professional edition, defines the Projects and Tasks that employees will charge their time to.

Backup Supervisor

In TimeReporting.com, a Supervisor is responsible for approving Timesheets.  Each employee has a designated Supervisor and a designated Backup Supervisor.  If an employee’s Supervisor is not available, the Backup Supervisor may approve the Timesheet.

Payroll Frequency

Defines how often paychecks are distributed.  TimeReporting.com supports a Weekly, Bi-Weekly (every two weeks), or Semi-Monthly (twice per month) payroll frequency.  When using a Semi-Monthly payroll frequency, payroll periods begin on the 1st and 16th of each month.

Payroll Period
The length of time between distribution of paychecks.  In TimeReporting, a payroll period can be either 1 week or 2 weeks in length or in the case of the semi-monthly payroll period, can vary in length from month to month depending on where the weekends fall.  Each payroll period has a designated start date and end date.  Timesheets are filled out and approved each payroll period.
PDF

Portable Document Format or PDF is a file format created by Adobe Systems, Inc. PDF uses the PostScript printer description language and is highly portable across computer platforms. PDF documents have a .pdf file extension (myfile.pdf).

Supervisor

In TimeReporting.com, a Supervisor is responsible for approving Timesheets.  Each employee has a designated Supervisor and a designated Backup Supervisor.  If an employee’s Supervisor is not available, the Backup Supervisor may approve the Timesheet.

Timesheet

A Timesheet holds an employee’s hours for a given Payroll Period.  An employee fills out a Timesheet for each Payroll Period.  The Timesheet is approved by the employee and the supervisor.
